- Harriet Beecher Stowe is best known for her anti-slavery novels featuring detailed, accurate accounts of American slave life combined with touching melodrama. Running throughout her work is a strong Christian moral tone that unequivocally condemns all forms of human servitude. Many of her characters are heartbreakingly sympathetic and she sets them in direct opposition to her over-the-top bad guys.
